Kenya and the Safari.com marathon
Nairobi and the Aberdare Country Club

After running marathons in Antarctica, Australia, North and South America, I was left with Africa, Asia and Europe to complete my membership requirements for the Seven Continents Club.  Several months ago I signed up for the Safari.com marathon which is held in Kenya each year to raise money for an animal conservancy.  It seemed like a good way to combine a marathon in Africa with an opportunity to go on safari and see wild animals in their natural habitat.
The first stop on the trip was the elegant Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi.
At the Norfolk, I was joined by my good friend, Jennifer, from New York.
We began our hydrating for the marathon several days in advance poolside at the Norfolk.
We traveled by bus to our next stop, the Aberdare Country Club. Note the luggage being loaded on top.
Here is the main lodge at the Aberdare Country Club and a panoramic view from the veranda.
These are a couple of the warthogs that wandered the grounds of the hotel.
